Vicki Norman

Starting my journey at a young age with yoga and eventually studying Judo with the Budokan Judo Association, in January of 1995 I found Tai Chi and a wonderful teacher, Han Hoong Wang.
In the ending mediation of my first class, I felt I had finally found what I had been looking for my whole life. I didn’t have any idea where that feeling was going to take me. I am extremely grateful for Han’s guidance then and now.
Seeking instructions from the Masters, I first met Grand Master Yang Zhen Duo and Yang Jun on their visit to America in 1996.
My Tai Chi years have been fabulous, continually seeking the Masters, following my teacher, Han, to Virginia, Texas, Oregon, New York and China where I participated in three International Competitions.
My studies include:

  • Empty Hand 24, 13, 49, 103 Form
  • 67 Sword
  • 13 aber
  • Short Staff
  • Long Staff
  • Two Person
  • Push Hands, etc.

July 2007, China, I was greatly honored with advancement to 5th Rank, Silver Tiger.
At one of Han's early seminars, Grand Master Yang Zhen Duo said that Tai Chi was a gift from his Grandfather to the world. Yang Jun shared stories of his early years and how his Grandpa was always watching him. Now he is a Great Master to follow.
Tai Chi - What a wonderful gift to receive and to give.
Come join me at the Warren Community Center and receive your gift from Tai Chi.
Most rewarding is to grow the Tai Chi family, practice and share energy; in turn, we pass this gift to others.
I am honored to continue teaching and studying the Traditional Yang Family Tai Chi for many more years.

    Annick TARO

When I discovered Taiji Quan it imposed itself on me as something obvious. It was in 1989.

Since then, I have been practicing with different teachers (French experts, H. Choy, …) and starting in 1999, I have been following regularly Masters Yang Zhenduo and Yang Jun’s workshops in France. I went to China for the first time in July 2007 for the 25 years anniversary Celebration of Shanxi Association.

I have been teaching Taiji Quan for twelve years and Qi Gong for eight years.
I am very interested in Chinese culture (Feng Shui, Ba Zi, Chinese energetics….)

I wish to join YCF Center Paris in order to develop together the traditional Yang style in France and more specifically in the Nantes’ area (West of France).

I am volunteering at a Cultural Association. I have three children and three granddaughters who brighten my life.

    Laird Trimble

Laird was born and raised in Hamilton, Ontario and currently resides in Canada's capital, Ottawa Ontario. He was trained in organic chemistry and during the day Laird uses these skills to perform his duties as a full time research scientist to discover new breakthrough medications at a major pharmaceutical company.

Laird discovered Tai Chi in 1996 when, on a lark, he took a course with Laoshi Sergio Arione to improve his coordination. His love affair with the martial arts took off from there. At that time he began learning the Yang form as taught by Master Tsun-Kuen Ma.

In 1998 Laird attended his first seminar with Master Yang Zhenduo when he and Yang Jun visited Montréal and at that time Laird began learning and practicing the Yang Family Style of Tai Chi Chuan. In 2002 he began teaching classes under the tutelage of Laoshi Sergio Arione and in the spring of 2007 was awarded the rank of Copper Tiger.

    Matthew Bruni

When I first started Tai Chi Chuan in 1998, I could barely reach down to put on my socks. Recently a kid in the park asked me to get his ball from the top of a tree and I found it easy to climb up high. Tai Chi has changed so many things. It has brought me flexibility, coordination, balance, agility and a good root. It clears my mind and makes my movements soft. But these things do not come without practice. From the beginning I have gotten up early so I could spend a couple of hours every morning doing my forms and I read what I can about the art at night.

In 2001, I was lucky to discover Master Yang Jun at my first seminar in Portland, and at that time the Stockton center was organized. Since then I have attended many seminars. I travel to Seattle about twice a year to study push hands and to get instruction and corrections.

I have found a lot of different ways to work on Tai Chi. From standing meditation, I am learning to relax my joints and sink my chi. With the Tai Chi ball I am improving my sticking energy and working on circles. I now have a bamboo flute which helps me to control my breath. It’s so much fun. This is all a great journey and it has introduced me to so many wonderful people along the way. Tai Chi is at the center of my life, and in turn it is helping me to become centered.

    Jacques DUPRE

I was born on 12-06-1933, in Nogent sur Marne, France.
I started working when I was 15 when my father passed away, to maintain my mother and my two younger sisters. All my life I worked in offset printery.

In the army, athletics practice allowed me to be selected for a military sporting instructors seminar in the Fort Carré at Antibes. Since then started my interest for fighting sports. In 1957, after the Algeria war, I applied to Karatedo courses in Mr Plee’s Dojo, Paris. I got the black belt in 1961 and began teaching in evenings, after my work. In 1962 at a seminar at my teacher’s Dojo, I met Mr Oshima (5th dan) who was currently teaching in USA where he founded the 1st Federation outside Japan. I followed his school for 42 years, gaining ranking levels one after the other. Finally I got by equivalence the 5th level at FFKAMA.

Twenty years ago, I turned my interest to Tai Chi Chuan to get prepared for my old days, and go on practicing martial arts in a more suitable way to aging. I followed courses with Mrs Jacqueline Hu Danling at Mr James Kou’s Club in Paris (called ‘French Federation of Tai Chi Chuan’. After she accidentally died in China, I succeeded her teaching in James Kou’s Club, which was possible with my National Karate Instructor diploma (at that time, Tai Chi Chuan was integrated in FFKAMA). I also created a Tai Chi section in my own Club.

As I wanted to improve my skills in Tai Chi, I got in touch with Duc and Carole Nguyen Minh. I have had the good luck to participate to the last Master Yang Zhenduo’s seminar in France, when he came in Paris with Master Yang Jun in 2004. Then, I applied as a member of the International Yang style Association and I got my 3rd ranking level in China in 2005. I regularly participate to Duc and Carole’s training seminars, as well as to Yang Jun’s yearly seminars in Paris. In 2007 I had the honour to be a member of the first ranking committee held in France by the Yang Chengfu Center Paris. In 2008 I succeeded in my 4th ranking level with Master Yang Jun and Duc & Carole as ranking committee.

I was born in São Paulo (Brazil), place where I grew up and had the opportunity to meet Tai Chi Chuan in 2000. At that time I was graduated in Translation and Interpretation. But I was looking for something different in my life, and tai chi chuan brought me much more than something different, brought me a way of life. I started to study hard and four years later I concluded the Tai Chi Chuan instructor course. Then I studied sword and saber, and now I am learning tui shou and I Ching.
The best experience I had was in 2007, at the Shanxi Yang Style Taijiquan Association 25th Anniversary Celebration and Traditional Yang Style Taijiquan 3rd International Invitational Tournament, Shanxi China. Great to see that so many people from all over the world are connected by this amazing Chinese martial art.
In 2008, I got the fourth level at Tai Chi Chuan Yang Style and graduated in Physical Education.

    Alice Hayashibara

I started the practice of Tai Chi Chuan in 1985 in São Paulo, Brazil, where I live. In parallel, I began to study Eastern culture and Traditional Chinese Medicine. I work with shiatsu and also give regular courses teaching this therapy. After that, I specialized in acupuncture too.
In 1998, my teacher Ângela discovered and introduced the Traditional Yang Style of Grand Master Yang Zhen Duo and Master Yang Jun in Brazil, causing a revolution in our practice and enlarging our experience. I have taken part in all seminars given by the masters in São Paulo, Brazil and I received the 5th rank in July, 2002, in China.

Before practising the Traditional Yang Style, my Tai Chi Chuan was as to know the delights of a beach, but this new style leads us to have knowledge of the entire ocean. Shall we dive in this ocean?

My other activity is the study and practice of the Himalayan Buddhism and
the cultivation of Tai Chi Chuan provides us an additional light in the
    path.

I wish Tai Chi Chuan can benefit many people all over the world!

In 2002, he became a member of the Yang Family Tai Chi Chuan Association under the direction of Master Yang Jun, and to fulfill his desire to share and spread the therapeutic benefits of Tai Chi, he became a Certified Instructor under his teacher, Holly Sweeney. I first learned the Yang Simplified 24 in 2000 and later a form so-called the "Old Yang" Style Tai Chi class from two Employee’s Tai Chi clubs taught by a fellow employee. I served on the Executive Board of the clubs, led practice sessions and occasionally taught classes there.
After reading the article "A Talk on Practice" by Yang Chengfu: "...a group takes their mistakes and transmits them to generations, necessarily fooling both themselves and others...", I realized I have to search for a professional Tai Chi instructor. I have been studying with Master Yang since 2003 and received 4th rank in 2008.  I became a Certified Instructor in 2009.

I am a Computer Software Engineer and currently working for a major corporation in the Northwest. I teach Tai Chi classes in Community Center and Senior Center in the City of SeaTac.

I was born in Turin, in 1964, and moved to Rome in 1968 where I live now with my wife and son and work as an English language teacher in the secondary school. Kung fu began to cross my path in 1987 when I started studying different styles such as Wing Chung, Tang Lang and Hung Gar, as well as Tao Yin and Chi Kung.  First approach to Yang Style Tai Chi Chuan was in 1992, studying 24 form, 108 form, sword form and a having little push hands training.
Since 1999, I ‘ve been taking part to every Yang Jun seminar in Rome or around, developing step by step the traditional Yang Family Tai Chi Chuan.
I got my copper tiger level in Alviano (TN) the last 26th April 2008, when I performed the best I could, feeling the spirit of my dead mother and father inside, giving me calm and strength at once.
I’m very lucky and honoured to have the opportunity to develop Tai Chi Chuan living with my family, playing drums and bass, teaching English at school, working the land, and of course giving Yang Family program courses inside The Rome Yang Cheng Fu Centre and around.

I’m particularly thankful to my teacher Claudio Mingarini and all the other instructors and students, with whom I share this wonderful mission of developing the Yang Family Tai Chi Chuan for a better world

I approached the world of martial arts in 1987, studying Karate for 6 years, then Kung Fu (Wing Chun, Hung Gar). In 1997 I started learning Yang Style Tai Chi Chuan with M° Giuseppe Turturo and in 1999 I became a Member of IYSTCCA. I participated to several international seminars held in Europe by M°Yang Zhen Duo and by M°Yang Jun. In 2002 I attained the 3rd rank taking part in the 2nd Traditional Yang Style Tai Chi Chuan’s International Tournament held in Taiyuan, Shanxi. In 2002 I also started teaching Tai Chi Chuan Traditional Yang Style in Milano. In 2004 I went back to China for further studies with M° Yang Bin. In 2008 I set out for a long stay in Redmond, to attend classes with M° Yang Jun, and passed the examination for the 4th rank.
From 2009 I teach in Varese and province.

Practicing seriously for all these years I developed a strong belief in this discipline. I am convinced that this knowledge is a great gift in life, for both health and spirit; and I am positive that helping other people to get to know Tai Chi Chuan is the best way to share this gift.

    Jeffery Graham-Lietz

I began my Tai Chi Chuan journey in 1998 as a means to improve my health. I started with the Yang Style Simplified 24 and 88 posture forms under the direction of Tom Keenan and Zhang Fuxing. I then studied a 108 Yang style form with You, Yong.

In 2003 I was intruduced to Kentucky Center Director Carl Meeks. After attending Master Yang Jun's Hand Form Seminar in Louisville, Kentucky that year I joined the International Association and became a student of the Traditional Yang Family Style. I have studied the different Hand Forms, as well as, the Sword, Saber and Push Hands.

I have been fortunate to attend numerous seminars held by Master Yang Jun, as well as, the Master's Forum in Canada (2006), the Master's Symposium in Nashville (2009) and to compete in the Third International Tournament in Shanxi, China (2007).

I received my Level Four Ranking in November 2009 and was Certified as an Instructor in January 2010. Being retired allows me to teach classes at various Senior Centers during the day and become a student at night. I look forward to expanding my Tai Chi Chuan experience through the direction of Master Yang Jun, Center Director, Carl Meeks and my fellow Instructors.
