Yang Jwing Ming

Yang Jwing Ming

Postby Sugelanren » Thu Mar 13, 2014 4:04 pm

Hi Guys. I've just bought "Tai Chi secrets of the Yang style" by Yang Jwing Ming. This is an excellent book, and it was particularly nice to read the another Translation of Yang Ban Hou's 40 chapters.

Dr Yang seems to be a very prolific writer, and at time of publication my book lists 28 books that he has authored. Can any of you recommend the next of his books to read? I'd love to just get them all and go though them, but it just isn't going to happen. I'm open to any subject, so a recommendation based on what you found of most interest/help would be be nice.

Thanks in advance...Sean.

Greetings Sean,

If you like T'ai Chi Secrets of the Yang Style, you might also like his translations of the Wu and the Wu/Li traditions:

Hi Louis, thank's for the recommendations. Can i ask a question please?

I was looking up good books, and i was made aware of a book by Yang Sau chung from this site here http://www.mountainriver.co.uk/links.htm

The part here "A must have, and a very difficult book, to track down; is Yeung Sau Chung's "Red Book" entitled Practical Use of Tai Chi Chuan (Its Applications and Variations) Yeung (Yang) Sau Chung".

As I practice in the lineage of Yang Sau Chung, this book has mentally become a "Must have"...There's first world consumerism for you.

Do you know if this book is in print in English anywhere?

Hi Sean,

Have a read through this old thread, which I think includes a link to a place where you can purchase the book.

Just a small update (for no particular reason).

I opted for Yang Jwing Ming's "Taijiquan Theory"

http://www.amazon.com/Taijiquan-Theory- ... 0940871432

It is a heafty read, but i can see from the first chapter that it will be a different book compared to the books i've read in the past. I also go Yang Sau Chung's book. Not a very big book, about the same length as "Tai chi Ta wen" by Chen Wei Ming. More of an applications manual, but i will be bringing it to class tomorrow to ask my Instructor about it. Any further book recommendations would of course be appreciated.

Peace. Sean.
