Only hear mixed reviews and feelings about that guy Adam. People either love him or hate him. I think he is looking for noobs and people with lesser skill that him to work with, so he can look good as someone with a “high level of skill”.
He advertises a skill only Tai chi people imagine they want. To me it is not Taiji gong fu at all, and his skill will only work against other taiji people of equal or lesser skill and not fighters of other disciplines: boxers, muay thai, judo, MMA, etc. Having been to Thailand annually and Phuket on several occasions, the guy not interested in meeting to touch hands, yet has told me there is nobody at his level to touch hands with. Cocky for sure.
As a veteran player who has "been there and done that" in many push hands and full contact fighting events, i will remain skeptic, we have had clashes on forums and when you try to reply to statements and videos they post with ‘logic and reason’ his minions resort to name calling for questioning it and they go on hero-worshipping tangents.
From what I have heard from other seasoned push hands players and competitors who have touched with Adam, Adam was not able to do his fajin moves on them, only if they allowed him to do so. His videos are very suspect since he is able to do things to his students and those of lesser skill.
His seminar last year or so... he pissed off a bunch of New Yorkers who went to the "Fajin seminar" there, only to be told they were not relaxed enough so he did not teach fajin skills advertised. I've heard he does have some level of martial skill and one push hands guy I know who has touched Adam says "his power is formidable crisp and clear like in his videos. He brings a severity and seriousness to his techniques and training. So I can respect his skill."
Some of Huang people called him a showoff and that his demos are a bit "over the top". One Huang's representative went as far as saying he makes way to many claims and was told to leave the school that was in Gold Coast of AU, and that "he does not represent Huang's teaching in the slightest."
As for his Yang Shaohao form video that is out there (at least on Facebook). He dodged my questions on who he learned it from. The video shows him doing "fighting techniques" on people rushing him with telegraphed, acted out punches, and he does some Steven Segal "one punch" on the guy and they tumble and fall. Bad acting and would never happen vs. a real fighter. EVER!
he would post goofball things on his "Heaven man Earth" Facebook page like the following in ALL Caps:
"YANG FAMILY TCC IS A KNOCK DOWN ART, WE PRACTICE PUSHING HANDS AND FAJIN TO DEVELOP THIS ABILITY. IN APPLICATION THE IDEAL IS ONE TOUCH/STRIKE AND THE OPPONENT IS KNOCKED DOWN AND OUT.
MANY NOT UNDERSTANDING THAT PUSHING HANDS IS A TRAINING TOOL ALLOW THE PRINCIPLES OF STICK, ADHERE, JOIN AND FOLLOW TO BECOME A HINDRANCE INSTEAD OF A STRENGTH. MANY OTHER FORGET THE LESSONS FROM PUSHING HANDS AND HAVE NO NEIJIN ALAS THEY FIGHT WITH POOR KICKBOXING. "
he is not a spokesperson for Yang Family (never thought him as an authority of Yang taiji ever), and anyone claiming they can knock someone out with one magic strike, does not truly understand fighting. Any of these shady snake-oil salesmen claiming such skills....is not in their right mind. I know some girls who do tai chi and full contact fighting who could put him in his place.
So just for the record I don't hate the guy, but his videos, advertising, and cultish followers, makes me cringe. Buyer beware.
