Bas Debbink

Bas started practicing Tai Chi Chuan under the tutelage of Center director Andy Lee of the East Brunswick, NJ Yang ChengFu Tai Chi Chuan center-USA in February of 2011. This was his first exposure to martial arts, despite having had an interest in trying something martial arts related for several years. He started teaching weekly traditional style Yang style Tai Chi Chuan classes in the summer of 2015 at the East Brunswick location, instructing his students in the Yang Family Tai Chi Chuan Tai Chi Kung form, the 16 Movement Hand Form, and the Traditional Hand Form. He currently holds the Gold Eagle rank with the International Yang Family Tai Chi Chuan Association. In addition to taking classes in New Jersey, he has also attended several Yang style workshops in the USA and Mexico (traditional hand form, 16 movement hand form, sword form), as well as Shaolin Kung Fu and Tai Chi Qi Gong for Health workshops.

Taking a leadership role at the East Brunswick Tai Chi Chuan center, Bas has acted as the President of TaiChiUSA since 2016.

Born and raised in the Netherlands, Bas holds a Master’s Degree in American Studies from the Radboud University in Nijmegen, the Netherlands, and an MBA from Capella University. Since he moved to New Jersey in 1995, he has worked as an IT Manager at various companies, and most recently worked at Johnson & Johnson in New Brunswick, NJ as a Director of Learning Technologies.
