Born in 1971 in the City of Plovdiv, Bulgaria, Dimitar TONCHEV started practicing Chen Style Tai Chi in 2010. One year later he was led to discover the Yang Style Tai Chi within the school of Stanislav Bagalev. He then has decided to adopt the style and is still practicing it so far.

In 2012 he opted to train Wing Tsun alongside Tai Chi Chuan, and is 1st grade instructor since almost 4 years now.

In 2015 he became the main Tai Chi instructor in the school of Plovdiv which later was upgraded as a Yang Family Tai Chi center. There, from 2016 to end 2023, he held 2 classes 5 times a week in a full year basis. On demand, he was tutoring private lessons too.

From 2018 to early 2024 he co-owned of the Wushu Plovdiv club, leading him in 2020 to follow a program provided by the National Sport Academy of Bulgaria, officially qualifying him Chinese martial arts trainer.

Furthermore he had the privilege to attend seminars led by the Grand Master Yang Jun, such as in 2014 and 2015 in Veliko Tarnovo Bulgaria; in 2017 in Kunming China; in 2019 during the Symposium in Selvino Italy; in 2020 for the Essentials in 10 lessons and the Traditional form in 40 lessons both online seminars; in 2022 in Plovdiv Bulgaria, then in Roma Italy for the Directors and instructors seminar; in 2023 in Stara Zagora Bulgaria and again in Roma Italy for the Teacher Academy Seminar. He also had the opportunity to follow seminars given by Senior, Academy and Certified instructors of the association.

Since 2022 to date he is the head of marketing department of the Bulgarian Wushu Federation. The same year he took part in a wushu judge training provided by the European Wushu Federation in Burgas Bulgaria, in Tui Shou specialty.

Recently, for having put lots of focus onto his Tai Chi practice and teaching, as well as on the development of Yang Family Tai Chi in his hometown, he has decided to open his own school. Together with that, he launched Xin Dao Wushu and Kung Fu sport club with Marin Maznev, a young Yang Family Tai Chi adherent. The Focus in this club is especially made on kids and teenagers.

He has solid experience in teaching the Traditional 103 movements hand form, the Essential form, the Tai Chi Kung, the Senior form, the Saber form and the basics of push hands.

As a Tai Chi athlete, we won several national and international titles.

Aware of the challenge that it represents in a world extremely digitalized where people move less and less, he strives to attract new practitioners and to convince them of the physical, emotional and mental health benefits of a regular practice of Yang Family Tai Chi, while making them discover the internal martial side of it also.
