Grandmaster's Birthday Celebration
On July 25, 2024, our tai chi family celebrated Grandmaster Yang Zhenduo's birthday worldwide. He would have turned 98 years old. Schools and centers contributed to create a video to honor his life, his dedication to spreading Yang Family Tai Chi Chuan in the world, and the beautiful moments he shared with us.
Grandmaster Yang Zhenduo dedicated his life to spreading the art of tai chi chuan. In 1982, he founded the Shanxi Province Yang Style Tai Chi Chuan Association. In 1999, he founded with his grandson and lineage holder Master Yang Jun, the International Yang Family Tai Chi Chuan Association in Seattle, WA, USA. Today, the association has more than 80 centers and schools around the world.
The most recent issue of our association's journal also celebrates Grandmaster Yang Zhenduo's birthday. Edward Moore (Editor) interviews Master Yang Jun and his wife Fang Hong Laoshi about their memories of Grandmaster Yang Zhenduo and his wife, Hu Ruidi. Some disciples were also interviewed for the journal and shared their memories. The journal can be found in our members-only area.

For three days, Master Yang Jun presented in detail the fundamentals and applications of Yang Family Tai Chi's Traditional Form (103). He dedicated one day to theory and two days to practice. The seminar was supported by instructor Martine Salane from Michigan Tai Chi Center and Professor Javier Chibras from the Tai Chi Center in Mexico, who assisted participants in reviewing Master Yang's lessons every morning and evening.
Additionally, Master Yang dedicated special time to review the techniques of the Mexican team that will compete in Kunming, China this coming October in the city's national Tai Chi championship. A team of ten members from the Yang Family Tai Chi Center Mexico will travel to represent the association and compete in the Yang style in Kunming on October 17.

100th Birthday!
In August, the YFTC Center in Stockton, California had the pleasure of celebrating Bob Hong's remarkable 100th birthday. Less than one percent of the world's population is 100 years old or older. Bob holds a special place within our international association as one of our most senior members.
To commemorate Bob's special birthday, we organized a delightful lunch. As a token of our affection, friendship and respect, we presented Bob with a very special bottle of wine that was crafted for the association's 2019 International Tai Chi Chuan Symposium in Selvino, Italy.
In the group photo below, Bob Hong is seated in the center. On the left (yellow shirt) is our esteemed Center Director, Bing Hui. On the right (blue floral shirt) sits Dr. Ray Tom, our Center Director Emeritus, who has played a significant role in the development of our tai chi community. Behind (hand on Ray's shoulder) is Donna Yee, another cherished member of our group.
Donna Yee, Ray Tom, and Bob Hong are all charter members of the Tai Chi Chuan Institute of Stockton which was formed 41 years ago in 1983. The Stockton institute became an official Yang Family Tai Chi Center in 2002, marking a significant milestone in our journey.
